Family retailer with poor profitability
The retailer had earned an excellent reputation as a traditional family business with good service standards. Recent expansion had caused a severe increase in borrowed money which the company had not experienced before. Early action was needed to arrest the deteriorating trend.
We produced a Business Plan with an Action Plan for twelve months incorporating asset disposal, a redundancy programme and immediate cost savings. We assisted the Client in acquiring improved management information and mentoring support with our cost covered by savings we had already made.
They are trading at the same sales but with reduced costs, improve profits and information is available to manage the business.
Furniture Manufacturer with cash issues
A furniture manufacturer had reduced profitability and was constantly up against its overdraft limit.
We carried out a review, produced an Action Plan and a Business Plan that:
- Helped them understand that their choice of supervisors was unwise.
- Helped them understand the value of good management information and how to obtain it from their systems.
- Helped them understand that their spare space could be sublet.
They now have management accounts that give useful information. They know the cost of a productive hour. They have costed all their products and know the margins. They are expanding their markets.
The signs business was part of a group that was experiencing financial difficulties due to problems elsewhere in the group. The team managing the business wanted to take up the opportunity to acquire the business.
We explained the process to them, produced their plan, obtained finance from appropriate sources, negotiated with the insolvency practitioner, and saw them through the legal process. We have also helped them through the initial start up process.
They are now trading, own the business and can trade on into the future. We are available to give on hand mentoring support over their first year.
