The environmental impact of many manufacturers and food processors is regulated under IPPC. IPPC has taken over from IPC. There is a timetable which is bringing all the relevant industries into the new permitting arrangements. The range of industries covered is extensive; from combustion to intensive farming, chemicals and oil processing to food manufacture.
Whenever substantial change is made to existing plants or processes, or investment is made in new facilities, new permits have to be applied for.
WLP has experience of the previous IPC arrangements as well as IPPC applications and variations. We can be of help for simple and complex process operations involving multiple activities within a site. We aim to provide a sufficiently detailed application in order to obtain appropriate authorisations whilst allowing businesses to continue to operate and develop as the market requires.
WLP can provide the following assistance in the preparation and in obtaining an appropriate permit:
- Advice on whether a variation is required or not.
- Advice on the best approach to any application and permit.
- Preparation of application documentation.
- Preparation of BAT arguments.
- Appropriate monitoring and environmental assessments.
- Support in discussions with the Environment Agency.
- Implementation of the authorisation including reporting mechanisms and training.
- Manage the whole application process.
